Africa, the Black continent
No one chooses where to be born,
But everyone can choose where to live,
I did not choose to be born in Africa,
But am proud of my motherland

Africa is not a dark continent,
Her people welcome you with open arms,
Working hard and pulling together everyday,
Laughter and unity sweeps along her territory
Full of natural resources is our continent,
But most of her people live in penury,
Not because she cant sustain her populace,
But because of egocentric leaders,
The chains our forefathers broke,
The current leaders have entrapped themselves in,
Fueled by their selfish motives and snobbish lifestyles,
The world powers are making them dance to their tunes,
And Africa is crying for her children,
Because her resources cannot feed her children,
But empowers those of her neighbours,
Who eat and laugh at her children,
Those who resisted the world powers have been broken,
And their countrymen turned against them,
Those who danced to the music have been rewarded with short lived gifts and lifestyles,
While their countrymen wallow in pain
One day a bright star will shine across Africa,
That time leaders will emerge who will unite people against world powers,
A unifying cry of revolution will sweep all over the land,
And after that people will sit and say ‘Alas’
We are one and our Africa we must protect,
And we have done it for us and our future generations,
Indeed we are proud of our motherland,

The African Woman
She wakes up in the morning,
Fetches firewood to prepare breakfast for the family,
She goes to the cowshed to milk the cows,
All this time her watchful eye is on the kids preparing to go to school,
Once breakfast is ready she lays the table,
Makes sure that the children have their fill,
As she checks on their homework,
Once done she sees them off to school,
She continues with her chores,
The husband wakes up later to find breakfast ready,
She takes water to the bathroom for her husband,
After breakfast her husband goes about his business of the day,
She goes to the graze the cows with a jerrycan to fetch drinking water,
Soon she realizes it is mid morning and children will soon be back,
She goes home to prepare lunch for them,
Soon the children come running happily to have their meal,
As they go back to school she goes about washing the clothes,
Her husband comes for his lunch and she serves hims respectfully,
Once finished he goes back to his business,
She is done with house chores and goes back to graze animals,
Soon evening arrives and she runs to fetch firewood for dinner,
The family sits at the table to have an evening meal,
Then they say a prayer and all retire to their beds,
She is left alone as she makes sure everything is set for the next day,
She realizes she didn’t take breakfast and lunch,
Because she was busy worrying about her family and forgot herself,
The only meal she has had for the day is the dinner,
Tired she slowly retires to bed knowing that tomorrow, the cycle continues
She gets tired but keeps going,
The prosperity of her family is all she prays for,
That is her nature,
That is the African woman
Sweet flower
To my girl I miss your presence,
Just as petals miss the raindrops,
And they start wilting under the scorching sun,
Whining and winding around sheepishly,
Am here waiting to feel your fragrance,
And lose myself in your magical female scent,
oh my girl,
Lets kiss blissful moments into our souls,
Let me intoxicate you with my words,
Like a whirlwind in the desert,
And make you giddy and weak in your knees,
Melt into my arms,
And feel us bonding together,
Lost in love for eternity.
Live One Day at a Time
The world is a big football field,
You can run all through it and never score a goal,
So be wise relax and take a step as a stairway,
Live one day at a time
Moments of peace is all you should care for,
Tension and anger is all you must abhor,
Serenity and laughter is what you need,
Live one day at a time
Across the horizons you should have friends,
Be careful many can be your fiends,
Always look in front back and sideways as you walk,
Live one day at a time
There is happiness in living a fulfilling life,
There is honor in a good name,
Always wisdom surpasses riches,
But being greedy leads to loneliness,
So always live one day at a time
The Morning Star
At the rise of the morning star,
The new dawn heals that which is a scar,
New freshness, renewed hope is born,
Brighter ideas, stronger desires formed
The wind of calm and unity blows,
As peace and love flows,
The chirping birds from afar bring good tidings,
At the yonder people do good biddings,
The paths of life are brightened,
Friendship and unity is strengthened,
Trumpets convey sweet music,
And everyone dances to its soothing tune.
Dawn Enhances Better Life
Dawn reminds one that he has made it through the night,
And the universe has smiled at them again,
With renewed hope they become elated,
Prayers answered they can take a leap of faith again,
The darkest hour comes before the morning light,
So goes the old adage,
Thus even when one is on dire plight,
One day his wounds will get to assuage
Everything starts from a scratch,
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,
All great ideas were borne out of a slutch,
Through perseverance the doors of success open
All great leaders was once a focused followers,
And every teacher was once a keen student,
Each success to the world means hard work and scars behind the scenes,
The universe does not reward idiocy and indolence,
So today is the day to make a decision,
The time is right to be in position,
For opportunity always knocks once,
But if you are ready, then once in enough,
Do not wait for the right moment or the best chance
For that might not even come,
Sometimes one has to make their own path,
Take the first step and the track will show up,
Life is taking risks and accepting responsibilities,
People will pass you while you wait for one to hold your hand,
You have it withing you to make the life you want,
Sun will illuminate your way when you take the first step,
Climbing a steep mountain needs one to work smart,
Strategies and not strength win battles,
You may be working hard but still in the same level,
Today take stock of your decisions and strategies,
Then make a new way, another try,
And the goal will be within your reach,
The destination will show up in your view,
And the victory will comfort your footsteps.
